MeGUI/Tools/Muxer

The adaptive mux window lets you choose input audio and video files and mux them to any format that it can deduce a mux path for. This means it can be useful for muxing things via a somewhat circuitous route, if necessary (for example muxing H.264 into AVI, which requires first avc2avi.exe and then AVI-Mux GUI for doing the audio).

Video Input: You can specify the input video stream here, as well as force a certain frame rate and name the stream. (stream names are only visible for MKV and MP4 containers).

Audio Input: Works almost identically to the video section, but a stream language can be chosen, and there is the ability to add two audio streams (for commentary tracks or multiple languages). You can use the radio buttons up the top to specify which stream you are modifying. You can use the "X" button to remove a stream.

Subtitles: Subtitles can be included in this step, there is support for five streams in all. Works the same as the audio section above apart from the lack of stream name.

Chapters: If you have a compatible chapters file here you can include it here.

Supported chapter file formats:
MKV:
  • Matroska chapters (.xml)
  • OGG chapters
MP4:
  • OGG chapters

Output: Container format is used to specify the output container. The three possible choices are AVI, MP4 or MKV, but some may be disabled based on certain input choices above. For example, MP4 does not handle vorbis audio. You can specify the output filename and optionally split the output (for example, into 700mb pieces for burning to CD).
