MeGUI/iPod Conversion Guide/Audio
From MeWiki
[edit] Basic Info
This section covers encoding the audio to reach an Ipod compatible standard.
[edit] Encoding the Audio
- On the first page of MeGUI click the [...] button next to audio input. Browse for your input file and open it.
- The Ipod runs best when using AAC audio with the video, so we have 3 different formats to choose from.
- ND AAC: Nero AAC encoder. AAC is probably the highest quality format available for stereo files. Adaptive bitrate is recommended.
- CT AAC: Coding Technologies AAC encoder. Opinions vary on whether this or ND AAC give better quality files, I can only suggest you decide yourself. (Personally, I can't hear any difference, and the Nero encoder is newer, so that's what I use.)
- FAAC: Another AAC encoder. This encoder has not been updated in a while so use ND/CT AAC instead.
- Select your Ipod Profile in the profiles drop down list. If you do not have an Ipod Profile, see below.
- Click "Enqueue".
- When you are ready, click the
tab. Click File:Start button.gif
- For simplicity this guide will cover ND AAC.
- The max bitrate that the Ipod supports for audio is 160kbit/s. Just set ND AAC to CBR and choose 160kbit/s on the slider.
- For more information on the audio formats, check out the computer movie files page.
[edit] Setting up your Ipod Profile
- In the main window of MeGUI go to the audio section. In the Drop down list that is labelled "Codec", choose "ND AAC". Click "Config".
- Set your settings like the ones shown on the right.
- Downmix Multichannel to stereo.
- Select Constant Bitrate. Set the slider to 160Kbit/s.
- Set the AAC profile to AAC-LC
- Click "New". Type "Ipod Profile". Click "OK"
