[edit] Basic Info

This will cover the requirents of muxing a Ipod capable MP4 file.

[edit] Muxing

As of now, the Ipod does not support Subtitles, or multiple audio streams. So for now, just stick with the Video and the one Audio stream.

Edit(01 March, 2008): Chapters can be added as noted below.

Okay now for the guide.

Note:For iPods with firmware 1.2 or above, use the specialty build of MP4box to create a compatible MP4. Just download the file and point MeGUI to it in the settings window. The file can be found here (on-site mirror), or here (original location).

Open MeGUI. Click Tools. Scroll down to Muxer. Click MP4 Muxer.

  • Under video input, browse for your video file. Leave the Name section blank for safety.
  • Under audio input, browse for you audio file. Just choose one for now.
  • Scroll down to Muxed Output. Select your file destination. Click Queue.

Now all you have to do is click over to the Queue tab and hit Image:Megui start.gif

After muxing with megui...chapter can be added with this tool: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1107622 thanks to tuber99 After muxing the .chap file into the mp4 file, rename it to m4v and you've got chapters in your iPod file.

When you are done, load the file into iTunes and transfer it to your iPod. Happy Viewing!
